BREAKING NEWS!! WYCLEF SHOT IN HAITI

As Haitians head to the polls to vote for their next president, former candidate Wyclef Jean is recovering Sunday from being shot in the hand. "He is doing well," his publicist, Cindy Tanenbaum, tells CNN. The Haiti-born hip-hop artist, 41, was shot in Port-au-Prince on Saturday, the night before the country's presidential runoff election. Jean previously had his eyes on the executive office in Haiti, but officials in Haiti barred his presidential candidacy in August because he lives primarily in New Jersey. Jeeez! how peak is it that the man goes home to vote cant find his name on any voting register and on top of that he gets shot .... what a joke!

He was treated at a local hospital and released.

A rep for the singer said the bullet just crazed his hand and he's doing well, saying, "He’s fine now. It happened late yesterday night and he was released after a couple hours.”

The shooting comes on the eve of the presidential elections.  Wyclef was a candidate but ruled ineligible because of residency requirements.

UPDATE: Wyclef says he had just left his car, when he heard gunfire. He says the next thing he noticed ... he saw blood on his shirt and shoes. He has no idea who fired shots or whether he was even the target.
